Anonymous submission searching for guidance:

Question:  “What do you do when you don’t know what to do?”

First off, thank you for submitting to our Tumblr. Although this question is relatively vague, it seems applicable to almost any situation. I always find myself stuck, stuck in my thoughts, stuck in society, stuck in pain. I, of course, do not know the extent of your controversy, but I would suggest trying to keep the situation in perspective. (Easier said than done, believe me). Because we don’t know what’s ahead, the mind starts considering possibilities.  If you have the kind of mind that worries and is often looking for the perceived threat, that potential danger that lies around the corner, sitting with the unknown can become pretty unbearable. This can become habitual over time and soon create fear and anxiety. There’s a very profound and moving book called “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” by Jonathon Safron Foer. Here’s a quote from it that might help you find some clarity: “And then a thought came into my brain that wasn’t like the other thoughts.  It was closer to me, and louder.  I didn’t know where it came from, or what it meant, or if I loved it or hated it.  It opened up like a fist, or a flower.” [259]

There’s obviously optimism in the narrator’s thoughts, but I think he is really getting at opening up to new yet instinctual thoughts. Try to find peace in the situation, step back, look at it as a whole, and trust your instinct.
